Rodney Berkeley CBE, is the Director for Sustainability and Infrastructure at the Department for Business and Trade, following his appointment to the role of Director for Energy and Infrastructure in 2019. As Director for Sustainability & Infrastructure he is responsible for promoting exports and supporting investment across energy transition, sustainable infrastructure, and mobility sectors (Rail, Auto, Aerospace and Space) as well as supporting DBTs contribution to Ukraine reconstruction efforts.

Rodney has significant experience working across sectors within trade and investment and originally started his civil service career in the Department for Trade and Industry. His previous roles include: • Deputy Director of the Healthcare, Life Sciences and the Bioeconomy Directorate and interim Director of Healthcare UK at the Department for International Trade (DIT). • Deputy Director for Business Relations and the Strategic Relationship Management programme (DIT). • Director for Global Accounts at UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) leading the Financial Services, Life Science, Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation teams. • Deputy Director of the Financial Services Organisation (UKTI). • Team Leader for Technology and Creative Industries focused on attracting foreign direct investment (UKTI).

In the Queens 2022 Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours list Rodney received a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to International Trade and Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and has made an outstanding contribution to Her Majesty’s Government (HMG) for over 35 years.
